OUR LEARNING PATHS
Buddhist teachings are the foundation for understanding, the path on which we travel towards enlightenment. If we try to practice without the guidance of the teachings—or a skilled teacher—we are like a blind man walking in an open field: every direction seems equally viable, and we could stride over a cliff as easily as towards our goal. Yet with the teachings as guideposts, we are able to progress confidently towards true understanding. At the Center, we offer a range of programs to share vital Buddhist teachings with people at every stage of understanding.
ABOUT MEDITATION & SPIRITUALITY PROGRAMS
Meditation is not a passive activity; it deepens both your intellectual and experiential understanding of yourself and of the world, and helps you pioneer new paths for change. By taming your mind, you gain control over your own reactions to the world, which in turn helps cultivate deep inner peace. Through these programs you can expand your mental, emotional and spiritual capacity, and learn to live more easily in the world.
ABOUT YOGA & MOVEMENT PROGRAMS
Buddhism—especially Vajrayana Buddhism—teaches that the balance of mind and body is crucial for successful meditation, as well as for physical and emotional health. Yoga and other movement practices regenerate energy—literally opening your body and your mind. Join the programs to build resilience, access a deep calm, uncover an inner joy, and connect more fully with your Buddha nature.
ABOUT HEALTH & NUTRITION PROGRAMS
Practical wisdom states that you are what you eat—an idea that stretches to ancient times, when food was considered a source of prana, or life force. Indeed, Buddha taught that, to be able to help yourself and others, you must first take care of your body. So, in programs on nutrition, cooking, and other aspects of personal health, we share insights and practical tools to help boost health and cultivate inner strength.
ABOUT ART & CULTURE PROGRAMS
Buddhism has a rich history of art and music that both stems from and is integral to spiritual practice. From the making of malas and mandalas to chanting and melodic spiritual recitations, Buddhist teachers use the arts to help explain the teachings—and those teachings help enrich the arts and culture. Join us to sing, dance, paint, and express yourself as you gain insight and inspiration.
