Step away from the rush of daily life to deepen your meditation practice and reconnect with yourself in an idyllic natural setting. Meditate in Milarepa Hall, in the privacy of your room, or on a rock outside. Spend afternoons in the library. Hike our 90-acre campus. Contemplate the stars while sitting by the fire pit. Just be.
We offer the flexibility to design your own personal retreat—whether a time of simple quiet contemplation, a few extra days of deeper retreat at the beginning or end of a program, or intensive work on a specific Buddhist practice. You can speak with one of our Senior Teachers to discuss your personal retreat goals, or design your own personal retreat—whether a time of simple quiet contemplation, a few extra days at the beginning or end of a program, or intensive work on a specific practice. You can start each day with our morning salutations and meditation, then let the days unfold, meditating in Milarepa Hall*, in the privacy of your room, or on a rock outside. Spending afternoons in the library. Hiking our 90-acre campus. Contemplating the stars while sitting by the fire pit. Restoring yourself.
You are encouraged to join the Center’s free Tuesday Meditation and Full Moon Meditation programs. However, you must purchase a ticket to attend any ticketed teachings, programs or other events. Personal retreatants may not simply join parts of retreats and other programs happening on campus.
Each bedroom has a zafu, zabaton, and table for practice. Please note that if your retreat overlaps with a scheduled program, your access to the Meditation Hall may be limited; check our calendar for potential conflicts. However, you are always welcome to practice in our pavilion, in our small Meditation Room, and at spots throughout our woods trails.
We offer a discount of 10% for week-long (7+ nights) bookings; for bookings of two weeks (14+ nights) or longer we offer a discount of 20%. Please write us at retreats@dharmakayacenter.org for the applicable discount code, which you will add during checkout.
Planning to come multiple weekends during the year? Register for our Personal Retreat Package, and get your fourth weekend retreat free.
SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE: We are pleased to be able to offer partial scholarships for this program. Please apply here.
While this is a time to nourish yourself, it is also a time to nourish your body. You will enjoy delicious vegetarian food, eating each meal with our resident lamas, volunteers and staff.
Settle into a beautifully appointed room, with all the requisite comforts—and no extraneous distractions—creating a perfect atmosphere for peaceful contemplation.
Solitary retreats provide unparalleled opportunities for intensive work in specific practices guided by a teacher. Such retreats can help accelerate one’s practice, allowing retreatants to reach far greater depths. The Center welcomes advanced dharma students on solitary retreat with prior permission from the Center’s teachers. Solitary retreatants must have an established shamatha practice, the patience to practice and a strong motivation. Ideally, retreatants should have completed the Discovering the Dharma™ cycle.
